EDPS-ENISA Conference: Towards accessing the risk in personal data breaches

The European Data Protection Supervisor and ENISA organize a conference in Brussels on the 4th of April 2019 in personal data breach notification.

The conference aims to address the aspect of assessing the risk of personal data breaches under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - (EU) 2016/679 and the Regulation (EU) 2018/1725 for the processing of personal data by EU Institutions and bodies.

2018 International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners

The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) will be hosting the 40th edition of the International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners (ICDPPC) in Brussels from 22-26 October 2018. Together with our co-hosts the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP), we aim to have an inclusive, cross-disciplinary and interactive conference Debating Ethics: Dignity and Respect in Data Driven Life.

EDPS-Civil Society Summit 2018

The EDPS-Civil society summit is an annual meeting between EDPS and civil society organisations organized to discuss the state of data protection and privacy in the EU.

The 2018 edition will focus on two main issues:

  • challenges related to GDPR implementation related to individual and collective redress
  • monitoring of illegal content online: notice and action procedures.

The summit is a part of the Privacy Camp 2018.

Ethics in the Digital Era

As part of this year's prestigious Computers, Privacy & Data Protection (CPDP) conference, the EDPS is hosting a panel discussion on Ethics in the Digital Era. Good data protection law and effective enforcement are necessary in our digital society. However, the exponential possibilities of digital technologies have challenged the principles of both data protection and privacy rights and have highlighted their limitations. Compliance with the law and data protection principles is important but it’s also important to explore what goes beyond them.
