74th meeting of the International Working Group on Data Protection in Technology (IWGDPT)

The EDPS is hosting the 74th meeting of the International Working Group on Data Protection in Technology (IWGDPT) on 18 and 19 November 2024 as part of the activities to mark its 20th anniversary and to strengthen international cooperation in technology monitoring. The meeting, open only to members of the IWGDPT, is co-organised in collaboration with the Group’s secretariat held by the German Federal Commission for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

The IWGDPT is composed of representatives of data protection supervisory authorities worldwide as well as independent experts representing public authorities, private organisations, academia and civil society.

The objective of the Group is to contribute to ensuring consistent protection of personal data and privacy when implementing emerging technologies. It does so by providing positions and practical advice on privacy-enhancing solutions.

During its meetings, the IWGDPT analyse each time different emerging technologies and services in various sectors, promoting democratic principles and fundamental rights in their implementation. In particular, the 74th IWGDPT meeting will tackle topics ranging from Neurotechnology to Immersive Technologies. The Group’s papers and statements are available on the IWGDPT webpage.
