EDPB-EDPS Joint Opinion on the Proposal for a Regulation as regards the simplification of the digital legislative framework (Digital Omnibus)
Nach vielen Jahren intensiver politischer Debatten zum Thema Datenschutz in der Europäischen Union wird die Datenschutz-Grundverordnung (DSGVO) im Mai 2018 endlich EU-weit gültiges Recht. Sie soll den Eckpfeiler des Datenschutzes in Europa bilden. Die Datenschutz-Grundverordnung enthält unmittelbar geltende Vorschriften zu den Rechten der betroffenen Personen, den Pflichten derjenigen Organisationen, die die Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten fordern, und derjenigen, die die Verarbeitung durchführen (Verantwortliche und Auftragsverarbeiter), zu internationalen Datenübermittlungen und den Befugnissen der Aufsichtsbehörden.

Data Protection Day (28 January) celebrates the signing of Convention 108, the first legally binding treaty protecting privacy in the digital age. To mark the occasion, the Council of Europe (CoE) and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) are co-organising a one-day event focused on new frontiers in data protection. The conference will explore the challenges and opportunities that arise when innovation and emerging technologies intersect with privacy risks and the regulatory framework.
